I’m looking for a good synth-action keyboard to compliment my pc3x.  As much as I love the x, I was trained as an organist and find the quasi-piano touch to be challenging, especially for leads and faster work.

I would like it to be velocity sensitive, after-touch, and preferably not duplicate the sounds of my kurz.  I enjoy playing mostly 70s-80s rock and dance, so a soundset appropriate to that era would be ideal.

I was considering a DX7 IID or FD, however I’m not sure about the serviceability of an older board.  Having the FM sounds for the 80s and 90s covers would be nice though.  The Yamaha MO6 looks promising, but it's a bit too much $$$.  Korg triton?  Anything from Roland?

Any other suggestions?  I’d like to keep it under $500...

KORG O1/W. for older...

I recommend a MOTIF ES if you can pick one of those up.

It seems a used ES is still commanding over a grand here, however, I need to keep it under $500, or wait for many more months.  Used MO6 are just over $500, as are Tritons of various flavours (except the extreme).  I'll keep looking.
