Hi

I have a problem with hanging & stucking notes when using K2661 with external sequencers like Logic, Cubase, etc.

I have set up everything as it should be, but there is still that problem... What I'm doing wrong? I tried midi filtering, changing MIDI Mode, etc. and it's still present.....

thanks

Hi Rudee,

It might be a MIDI loop where you are sending a note to both Local and MIDI to the DAW, and then the DAW is sending it back to the Kurz.

Set the MIDI Mode to MIDI and use your DAW to control the channel you are playing.  Turn MIDI thru off in Cubase, and use the monitor/record buttons to hear the synth playing.

You want to ensure that the Kurz only gets a single note on event for each note that you press.

I'll add that I've had this problem with several MIDI interfaces-- but it is more intermittent. I'll just get stuck notes every couple minutes. Still, completely unworkable. It had nothing to do with the K2661.

Might be good if you can replace the kurzweil with another synth and see if the problem persists.

Hi

I've tried everything.....no results. Maybe Kurzweil team should think about system upgrade to solve this MIDI problem?

Anyway, thanks for help!

In case you misunderstood me, my issues were related to both MOTU and M-Audio interfaces and NOT the K2661. So it isn't an issue with the OS. But if you are concerned, you might consider reinstalling the OS and doing a hard reset (back up all your user stuff, first).

In your troubleshooting, you have tried a different synth and it works perfectly. Have you tried a different interface with the K2661 and the problem persisted? Try a different MIDI cable?

Sometimes it is easiest to take your rig to someone else's studio and try it with someone else's gear.

Good luck.

Another thing to try is to get another synth and connect the other synths MIDI Out to the K2661's MIDI In.

See if you get hung notes when the K2661 is played from the other synth.

Stubsonic's experience certainly make sense.  If your MIDI interface isn't doing it's job properly (and this certainly isn't uncommon), then one of the symptoms may be hung notes.
