I have a K2500XS without the KDFX unit (I live in europe) I have contacted with the principal dealers here and across the atlantic in US but it seems that nobody is able to sell me the KDFX because there are none available anymore. I am getting desperate and I think about buying an old K2500 with KDFX just because of the FX processor...Or a Kurzweil external FX device (but I guess this might be a more expensive option). I dont wanna buy the PC3 (I dont have the money for it at this moment, and I want to wait and save for the future K3000)... Thanks for any help...Can anyone sell me a KDFX???

Cheers Smiley

It is going to be tough to find the unit separate from the keyboard now. Have you tried emailing Kurzweil Support?
support@kurzweilmusicsystems.com

If not, then I'd recommend you sell the board and purchase one with KDFX already in it. You might have luck getting a k2600 second hand also.

Several major US dealers contacted Kurz HQ on my behalf and that was a no go... So, I found a used K2500XS with KDFX for a reasonable price and I bought it (it should arrive somewhere around next week). Now I am thinking if I should keep my old K2500XS without the KDFX or not, I mean, I am tempted to keep it so I can have more poliphony, and maybe I can do some interesting experiences making live sound processing through VAST from one to another (live mode), or maybe I should sell it and save the money for a more recent (k2600 or PC3) or future gear (K3000?)...Havent decided that yet...What do you guys would do? Thanks for the insights.

Nonetheless the K2500 is a true beast and it never failed to me, I guess that thing can even play during an earthquake as long as the power keeps coming in...It is a true "war" hardware.

upgrade to more recent gear.   you'll get more variety.   no point having two of the same board, because you're just duplicating your existing sound set.   get something different to compliment your k25

A good compliment to the K2500 with KDFX is the MOTIF series..... if you can pick up a MOTIF ES second hand with some of the optional boards... you will get powerful synthesis also.

I wish someone would make a 37key synth in the 600-1000 dollar price range.   korg micro has the worst keyboard ever, alesis micron sounds cheap, moog little fatty is too expensive but dope, and then there's the access virus synths.  super dope, but way too expensive.      we need a 2-3 octave kurz for under a grand.   little add-on board for bass lines and lead sounds...

Mine too! These guys at Kurzweil need to be a bit more agressive from now on, hope with Ray return to KMS that they will have a more solid strategy... Motif ES as a compliment to K2500? I have to check that, thanks for the tip!

I feel a bit more enlightened  Cool

Just to let you know guys, I was lucky in finding a very good priced half-new 2600RS (completely maxed out) for 750 euros. I bought it, now I have the K2500XS as a master controller. I have to say the KDFX makes a HUGE difference (and triple mode as well!).

I am a Kurzweil "funatic"  Tongue

The motif ES impressed me in some way, I guess it is a user friendly keyboard with very decent sounds, but I couldnt find one at an affordable price. But, honestly I feel that I have all I need with the addition of the maxed out K2600RS.

The previous owner told me that VAST was too complex for him  Huh So, I told him... "you probably should buy a Korg".  Roll Eyes

Cheers.

Check Ebay, there's a guy on there with KDFX units all the time, that's where I got the one for my K2500XS Smiley
