I started working with MOTU's Performer back in 1991, and kept on that track since. Part of the reason I've stayed (after trying Logic for a time), is that there are certain ways of working that I've gotten used to and, while I don't mind shaking things up, I really like my tools to stay out of the way -- in the sense that I don't like having to think much about them.

I use different tools for different things, but what has kept me in the DP camp is the strength of it for composition using MIDI. The notation is pretty good with only minor bugs. It used to be a faster tool, but with "improvements" that have come over the last few major upgrades, I find it is slower (because VERY basic things like selecting, dragging copies, zooming, etc.) have been altered in ways that trigger unintended consequences (it's a long story). I'm all for adding options, but developers force some options that over-ride the ways you work, it's nice if you can switch those options off.
